This short session will provide an overview of current planning reforms in Scotland, looking at the Draft National Planning Framework 4, how it might impact archaeology, and what CIfA and ALGAO: Scotland are doing to advocate to Scottish Government. There will be a 25 minute presentation followed by a chance for discussion.

 

Description

Scottish Government is currently reforming its National Planning Framework (NPF) and Scottish Planning Policy. A consultation on a draft NPF4 and is open until 31 March 2022.

This short session will provide a brief overview of the structure and content of the current proposals and how they change the structure of the Scottish planning system, focusing on the changes to policy that are likely to affect archaeology.  The presentation will describe how CIfA and ALGAO:Scotland are working to advocate for positive changes to the draft with Scottish Government.

There will be a 25 minute presentation followed by a chance for questions and discussion.
