Description

Challenging unacceptable workplace behaviour can be a challenge in itself – the ability to intervene with techniques which are right for you are not always immediately obvious. These situations are not always limited to your place of employment – they can occur with external stakeholders and their associated work locations.

‘Active Bystander’ is an innovative and award-winning training session which will support you to develop skills to challenge unacceptable behaviours, including those which may have become normalised over time.

Over this 90-minute workshop, you will learn about

  • Bystander apathy
  • High profile examples of inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour
  • Decision making techniques to support you to make the appropriate (for you) intervention when faced with a challenging situation
  • Assertiveness techniques to give you confidence and tools to speak out

This CPD workshop is for archaeologists of all grades and career levels, who wish to develop techniques to respond to unacceptable workplace behaviour.

The workshop will take place on Zoom – you will receive your workshop joining instructions in the 24 hours prior to the workshop.

This CPD opportunity is subsidised by the Historic Environment Scotland Organisational Support Fund and supports the delivery of Aim 5 of Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy. This funding helps subsidise the cost of delivering the workshop and enables bursary spaces.

If you would like a free space on this workshop and live and/or work in Scotland, please get in touch with Cara (cara.jones@archaeologists.net).
