Description
In 2015 an Equality and Diversity Group was set up as a Special Interest Group (SIG) to address pressing issues around equality and diversity in archaeology. The group pushed for cultural change within the profession, and within all areas of CIfA’s practice AND (fun fact) had the largest membership of all of CIfA’s groups!

The group successfully pushed for the development and establishment of a formal EDI committee within CIfA in November 2021 to support the Board of Directors in delivering its strategy for equality, diversity and inclusion. While this was a welcome and needed change, the disbanding of the EDI as a SIG also led to the loss of a very important network of passionate advocates and campaigners for social equity within archaeology. This informal lunchtime drop in is an invitation to anyone interested in EDI, and an opportunity to reconnect, chat, and share your thoughts about EDI within CIfA and/or the wider profession.
