Summary

Following the continued growth of our Archaeology team, Ecus is looking to appoint a Project Manager or Associate Director. Based in our Basingstoke office the successful candidate will coordinate a range of fieldwork projects throughout the south-east of England, overseeing the archaeological and commercial success of their projects.

We are looking to grow our team and would welcome applications from individuals with outstanding communication skills and experience in developing new business. We welcome applications from current archaeological project managers looking for a new challenge within a growing multi-disciplinary team and experienced project officers wishing to progress their careers.

The role will have line management duties for both the archaeology and heritage teams and experience delivering and managing desk-based assessment reports would be advantageous. The role will report to, and work closely with, Ecus’s heads of archaeology and heritage as well as our archaeology teams in Sheffield and Barnard Castle.

 

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Thorough knowledge of British archaeology and practices;
  • Experience of running or managing large scale excavations;
  • An accomplished report writer;
  • Ability to handle confidential information; 
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office package;
  • Ability to multi-task and work proactively and flexibly in support of changing workloads; and
  • A current driving licence.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists;
  • IOSH Managing safely or SMSTS qualified;
  • Current CsCS card;
  • Experience of working within the heritage sector; and
  • Experience of managing project budgets.
