Summary

MOLA is a highly experienced and innovative archaeology practice, and one of the leading voices in the profession. Our expert commercial services support clients in their sustainable development, and we conduct highly significant research both as part of the development process and independently within our own framework. As an education charity our aim is to inspire people to be curious about their heritage, and we set out to share our knowledge and information with the widest audience possible.

We are looking for people to join us who are passionate about delivering quality heritage services and about using archaeology as a force for good to benefit society as a whole.

THE ROLE

We are looking for hard-working and enthusiastic Archaeologists to join our Northampton field team to work on a specific project in the Midlands. The role primarily involves excavating and recording archaeology of various periods, in line with MOLA procedures. Training may also be provided to undertake geophysical surveying and monitor machining on site, and there are opportunities to contribute to post-excavation processes as well.

We are looking for people with:

  • Use or knowledge of archaeological recording systems
  • Experience of archaeological fieldwork, especially on commercial projects
  • Good organisational, communication and teamwork skills
  • Ideally, a driving licence and CSCS card
  • A commitment to creating a safe, positive and inclusive work environment

Recent highlights from our Northampton office include a large Anglo-Saxon settlement and cemetery with preserved coffins, Neolithic burials, extensive Iron Age and Roman settlements, and part of a Medieval manorial complex. We have several exciting projects planned for the summer and beyond.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Gemma Hewitt - Field Team Manager on ghewitt@mola.org.uk
