Summary

Archaeology South-East is recruiting for a geoarchaeologist to join our established geoarchaeology team working on a range of projects across east and south-east England. This is a full-time, permanent post (subject to probation) offering the opportunity to join our core team.

Archaeology South-East is part of UCL – a global multidisciplinary university with a diverse community and progressive approach to teaching and research.  As part of the UCL Institute of Archaeology, research and learning are at our core - and we want you to work with us to continue delivering this mission.

Our large team provides a comprehensive range of services and areas of specialist expertise so whatever stage you are at, there are plenty of people to learn from as your career in archaeology progresses. Working at Archaeology South-East will provide you with training and opportunities to develop your skills and experience within a supportive team environment.

About the role

We are looking for someone committed to developing their career in this specialist area, who wants to be part of an expert team working on Pleistocene and Holocene sites. This role embraces both on-site and off-site work. With training provided as needed, you will undertake geoarchaeological fieldwork and process geoarchaeological samples. Once fully trained, you will also be involved in writing reports and creating deposit models.

We have projects running from our offices near Brighton, East Sussex and in Witham, Essex. Whilst we have local work coming up, staff are sometimes required to undertake stay away work.

You are likely to have a degree (archaeology, geography, geology or other related discipline, ideally with a geoarchaeology component). You will also have some experience of undertaking archaeological or geoarchaeological fieldwork, maybe in a UK commercial archaeology setting.

A driving license and being willing to drive for work is essential, as is holding a CSCS card (we will arrange this if required).
