The part-time Archaeology Officer is a core post in our well-established service based in Reading, focusing on archaeological development management and enhancement of the HER across two boroughs. Reporting to the Principal Archaeologist, your main duties will include providing archaeological development management and conservation advice to our local authority clients and others, and working with colleagues to enhance and develop the Berkshire Archaeology HER and other resources.

You will have at least two years’ experience of professional archaeology in Britain, an excellent understanding of fieldwork techniques, a sound knowledge of a wide range of site types and periods, and a good grasp of the planning system, as it relates to heritage.

We offer a supportive environment to grow and develop your career with the opportunity to put your ideas across. Innovation and ambition are strongly encouraged, and you’ll get a great feel for that working in our friendly and collaborative environment.

As well as a competitive salary, our range of benefits includes generous holiday entitlement, flexible working opportunities, a modern working environment at the Berkshire Record Office in Reading and the Local Government Pension Scheme.
