A rich and varied upcoming work portfolio means that we can offer an exciting opportunity to join our growing Heritage Management Service (HMS). You would work with a dynamic and passionate team of experienced historic environment professionals to provide specialist advice and consultancy services. In addition, you would have the opportunity to develop your existing skillsets by working on the many exciting research projects we carry out every year! While the role would be based in our Oxford Office, we carry out work across the UK and there may also be opportunities to work on consultancy/research projects abroad! This is a challenging role and a real opportunity to progress a career in historic environment consultancy.

We are looking for an experienced Archaeologist who:

  • Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of British archaeology including the range of procedures, practices and processes carried out as part of both on-and off-site investigations.
  • Shows a good understanding of commercial archaeology in the UK and relevant legislation.
  • Understands needs and priorities of commercial clients and curators, great communicator.
  • Has experience producing archaeological desk-based assessments and/or heritage statements, condition management surveys, local plan enquiries. Proven writing and editing ability.
  • Can characterise and assess the archaeological and historic landscape resource and make recommendations for mitigation strategies ahead of development.
  • Enjoys the challenge of research projects, academic research and developing methodologies.
  • Preferable experience: Environmental Impact Assessment, setting assessment, broader experience of the heritage field, GIS and/or CAD.
  • Member, or eligible for membership, of the CIfA preferably at the ACIfA or MCIfA level.
