Project Officer Archaeologist

Summary
You will have an incredible opportunity to providing effective support for Cornwall Archaeological Unit (CAU) to assist with bringing a major post excavation project to publication.

The post holder is expected to act as Project Officer with a role in the implementation of a post excavation project under the direction of CAU Senior Archaeologists and the CAU Project Manager.

This one year post will seek to ensure that an exciting range of sites ranging from the Neolithic to the World War II are archived, analysed and brought to publication. The postholders role will focus upon the production of clearly written grey literature reports which will provide sufficient detail assist specialists produce their assessments and analytical reports. In order to do this the postholder will be working as part of a team with primary excavation records (context records, spreadsheets, site plans and drawings, etc.).

We expect the person to have considerable experience of project delivery and report writing in commercial archaeology and undertaking field projects involving the direction of site staff and volunteers, and/or complex and innovative projects that have required a high level of professional expertise and knowledge.

The postholders work will contribute to a major project which will make a significant contribution to our understanding of Cornwall’s Historic Environment. 

The post is a 12 month fixed term contract, although there is a potential for further post-excavation work on this project, and on other future potential projects.
