ABOUT THE ROLE

MOLA is continuing to grow at a fast pace, and we are looking to recruit hard-working and enthusiastic Project Officers to join our Northampton field team. MOLA has a policy of mentoring and training staff at all levels in order to develop individual capabilities and enhance career prospects, with opportunities for internal advancement and promotion, as well as developing specialist skills.

Recent highlights from our Northampton office include a large Anglo-Saxon settlement and cemetery, Neolithic burials, extensive Iron Age and Roman settlements, and part of a Medieval manorial complex.

We have several exciting projects of all sizes, covering different types of archaeology, ongoing or due to start imminently. Our teams are currently working on infrastructure, residential and commercial developments. Examples of projects include:

The role will be contracted to the MOLA Northampton office, with work taking place on projects within Northamptonshire and outside the county. A full, clean driving licence valid in the UK is essential for this role as regular travel will be required, and MOLA vehicles will be provided. Subsistence and accommodation costs are also provided for away work in line with MOLA policy.

The role involves being responsible for medium to large fieldwork projects, both in terms of directing work on site and carrying out the subsequent post-excavation analysis and reporting.

We are looking for people with:

  • Significant experience supervising commercial fieldwork projects covering a range of periods and site-types;
  • Exceptional organisational, communication and teamwork skills;
  • A track record in liaising effectively with colleagues, clients and planning representatives;
  • Experience in post-excavation analysis and reporting;
  • A commitment to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive work environment.

We have start dates available throughout June and July offers will be made to suitable candidates before the closing date, so early applications are advised! We are offering permanent contracts, subject to successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
