Summary

Archaeological Research Services Ltd are recruiting for an experienced Senior Geophysics officer for work on a variety of project work around the UK. The posts are based in our leading archaeological company with varied and innovative projects around the UK and potentially beyond. We have created a ‘Specialist Services’ division within the Company which is now well-established where we have brought various scientific techniques together, including truly cutting-edge techniques, to lead the way with our ‘Landscape Prospection Service’ amongst other things. We are building this team and we’re looking to attract further capable geophysics team members, ideally with specialist knowledge and experience, and for whatever role, the willingness and openness to learn other techniques, as the magic comes from combining the data sets.

This position requires you to be excellent at your job, and for a more senior position, an accomplished surveyor, report writer, editor and an effective leader and motivator. The post is nominally based at Sheffield, but there is potential for a hybrid arrangement, together with site-based work around the UK. Applications are invited for a professional, highly motivated and capable Geophysics /Senior Geophysics Officer with a strong track record and developed skills sets. We are seeking experience of overseeing, generating, managing and delivering geophysical work including geophysical and topographical surveys. Additional skills, such as UAV work will be welcomed and there will be the opportunity to upskill with UAV and geochemical survey to complement geophysics as part of our leading landscape prospection service. You will have responsibility for undertaking and delivering a wide range of projects where you will be accountable to the Head of Specialist Services. Excellent written English skills are required, together with strong survey, illustration and IT skills and be competent in the use of CAD/GIS. A good knowledge of British archaeology is essential as well as a track record in reports. We seek an effective team member who can be relied on and to deliver to deadlines.
