Following useful discussions with members over the last few weeks, we are sharing the plan and timetable for the salary benchmarking work which will take place over the next few months - Salary benchmarking survey update May 24.pdf. The benchmarking project will collect anonymised, aggregated salary data for a range of archaeological job roles and benchmark against comparator roles in other professions.
The project will be undertaken in partnership with Prospect and guided by a project advisory group including representatives from Prospect, the Advisory Council, the Early Careers Special Interest Group and BAJR and will draw on additional expertise where necessary. We are aiming to publish interim data over the summer and a final report by the end of August.
The benchmarking report will be provided as information to the sector and may be used by employers and employees to benchmark roles within their organisations and beyond, as a tool to underpin trade union pay negotiations or workforce agreements and also to support CIfA’s wider advocacy on the value of archaeology and archaeologists’ skills.
