Students and early careers
Hal Dalwood Trust Conference Bursary
In memory of Hal Dalwood, the Hal Dalwood Trust has been established to provide an annual bursary to enable an early career archaeologist of any age to attend the CIfA conference including £100 contribution towards travel costs. Contributions to the fund have also been made by several CIfA members and other archaeologists and it is open to those in the first ten years of their career in archaeology.

Historic England Bursary
This bursary has been established by Historic England for students and early career archaeologists, with the aim of reducing the financial impact of registering to participate in CIfA2024 live in Chester over two days. For the context of this bursary, Historic England defines early career as someone within the first 5 years of their archaeological career, or still studying for a degree, apprenticeship or equivalent.
- The bursary to attend in person for a single day will cover attendance at the conference and up to £100 in travel expenses and up to £75 in accommodation/subsistence over the course of the day.
- The bursary to attend in person for two days will cover attendance at the conference and up to £100 in travel expenses and up to £150 in accommodation/subsistence over the course of the two days.

Past Horizons Bursary
With special thanks to Past Horizons, one x 1-day in-person registration pass for CIfA2024 are available for students currently studying archaeology or heritage-related courses.

CIfA Conference Bursary Scheme
The CIfA Conference Bursary Scheme offers assistance with registration costs for CIfA members who are students, unemployed, on a low income or for whom the cost of registering to attend the conference would otherwise be prohibitive.

This bursary has been established for speakers for whom the cost of registering or other expenses would otherwise be prohibitive, with the aim of reducing the financial impact of registering or participating in CIfA2024.
