Student or Affiliate members are expected to support and work towards the CIfA Code of conduct (weblink). As they are not yet professionally accredited, we do not assess technical or ethical competence and no references are needed. CIfA's official language is English.
There are many benefits to becoming a non-accredited member, including discounted training and networking opportunities. More information can be found half way down the membership benefits webpage.
If you are a student enrolled on an appropriate course*, select the Student option. If you are not a student or interested in Archaeology but don't yet meet the criteria for accreditation, select the Affiliate option.
*Student members shall be undertaking a full or part-time course (normally half or greater than a working week) of study in subjects relevant to archaeology and the historic environment or undertaking an unrelated course of study but with an aspiration to pursue a career in archaeology and the historic environment or undertaking a programme of vocational training approved by CIfA.
You can continue as a Student member for up to one year after your graduation date regardless of your employment status. We will then automatically transfer you to Affiliate member or you can consider upgrading to be an accredited member.
If you were previously a Student or Affiliate member, you can re-join CIfA by applying below. If you were a Student and are no longer studying you will need to join at Affiliate grade.
Current subscription fees can be found under the purple online renewal button. Please note that the amount paid will vary depending on when you join CIfA, i.e. if you join in October this is half way through the subscription year (1 April to 31 March) so you will pay half the full year fee.
To apply from Germany please see the Deutschland Group page.
