Summary

The Position:

CFA is currently looking to appoint Archaeological Consultants to join our UK-wide Consultancy team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the requisite skills and competencies to join our organisation and become an integral part of a committed consultancy team. You will be contributing to the delivery of projects across the UK, and you will help to develop and expand our business portfolio.

The work involves desk-based assessment, field survey and drafting environmental impact assessment reports for a wide range of development types. You will be expected to contribute to day-to-day management of multiple projects, provide effective advice to developers and other project design team members, carry out day-to-day liaison and communication with development teams, and provide post submission support services (including Appeals and Public Inquiry work). Our key business sectors are renewable energy, utilities, transport, housing and master plans, commercial developments, and extractive industries.

The Candidate:

You should have extensive experience of producing desk-based assessments and EIA reports. You should be self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a good positive attitude and work ethic, and be an effective team worker and communicator. Experience of the procurement consultancy work and preparing fee quotations and project designs would be advantageous. You must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for producing clear, commercially focused reports often to tight client expectations and deadlines.

Essential Requirements for the Post:

  • Educated to degree level in archaeology or another relevant discipline.
  • Proven Consultancy experience.
  • Understanding of the guidance, planning and legislative frameworks in the United Kingdom that apply to management of the heritage resource.
  • Knowledge of British archaeology and of monument types.
  • Ability to produce written reports of a consistently high quality.
  • Full valid UK driving licence.
  • CIfA membership or a commitment to apply for membership following appointment.
