Summary

This is an opportunity to join the Cambridgeshire Historic Environment Team and assist with the management, protection and promotion of Cambridgeshire’s wide and varied archaeological resource. Cambridgeshire is one of the busiest areas in the country for archaeological fieldwork and development, and the HET operates a semi-commercial service supporting local planning authorities in the delivery of these challenges whilst at the same time protecting our rich and varied historic environment.

The primary responsibility of the role will be supporting the delivery of archaeological development control functions within the team. This can include acting as point of contact, fielding queries, providing database support, running HER searches and checking correspondence. The post holder will also, time permitting, be able to work on the maintenance and enhancement of the Cambridgeshire Historic Environment Record and other areas of our work as appropriate.

We are looking for individuals with a good understanding and experience of British archaeology. You must have a good level of computer literacy, ideally with knowledge and experience of GIS and/or databases. You must be able to work under your own initiative and pay close attention to detail. This post is an Entry Level post that would be of interest to someone that wishes to develop a career as a curator.

Interview dates are 15 & 16 June 2022
