Community Archaeologist

Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust is a Scottish charity established to conserve and promote the archaeological and architectural heritage of the area for the benefit of residents, visitors, and future generations. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and skilled field archaeologist to deliver a one-year programme of community archaeology, ranging from guided walks and talks to field walking and excavation. Ideally with experience of community archaeology and outreach, they will:

1. Deliver a year-long programme of community archaeology.
2. Manage available programme budget and evaluate and report outcomes.
3. Help to promote the project through traditional and digital media and contribute to publication sales.
4. Liaise with volunteers and local groups and help to maintain to our Volunteer Database.
5. Contribute to planning of a subsequent three-year community archaeology programme.

Candidates will have an archaeology degree, and an understating of Scottish archaeology gained through fieldwork. Experience in the delivery of outreach events, such as guided walks and talks is required along with good IT and communication skills and an understanding of both traditional and digital media. A driving licence and access to a vehicle are also essential.

The post is a full-time 1-year fixed-term contract. Based in Perth, you will work a 36-hour week with 25 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays) and flexible working arrangements, including an element of home working.
