On Tuesday, 20 February 2018 CIfA will host a joint event with the British Property Federation (BPF) about the future funding of archaeology and heritage in development. Chaired by BPF Chief Executive Melanie Leech and with speakers from the development sector, local authority planning and archaeology, looks at where funding will come from for the investigation and study, preservation and conservation of our built heritage, buried remains and historic landscapes in 2050?
In addition to exploring current funding models, the speakers will discuss where the appropriate split of private and public funding should be. We discuss proportionality and significance, heritage as an investment not a cost and the challenge of funding commercial and local authority-provided services. This seminar focuses on the funding of archaeology, using it as a case study for the future funding of heritage as a whole.
The event is free and will take place at the offices of JLL at 30 Warwick Street, London W1B 5NH. The event will start at 4.45PM, but if you would like to arrive early to chat to colleagues over tea and coffee, you can do so from 4.00PM. After a contributions form speakers, a panel discussion and Q&A, the event will finish at 6.00PM and there will be further networking time until 7.00PM.
