Call for volunteers for CIfA's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee

CIfA’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee is recruiting for two volunteer committee vacancies.

What is the CIfA EDI committee?

The EDI committee supports CIfA’s Board of Directors in delivering its strategy for equality, diversity and inclusion. For example we

  • offer advice and support in revising CIfA procedures to make them more accessible
  • provide training and events to promote inclusive practices
  • conduct research that will inform future practice and policy

The Committee members include a blend of senior and early career members, representation of disabled people, of gender diverse people, people from the Global Majority, people with caring responsibilities, people from working class backgrounds. All are passionate about making archaeology a more inclusive, accessible, and representative profession.

Who are we looking for?

In line with the Regulations for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee, we are looking to recruit two new volunteers to the committee. The vacancies are for

  • an accredited member of CIfA (Practitioner, Associate or Member)
  • an accredited or non-accredited (Student, Affiliate, Practitioner, Associate, Member) who is an early career archaeologist

You do not need to have previous committee experience to apply, and there are CPD opportunities available to committee members. You should be available for our regular meetings (see time commitments below), which take place online via Teams.

What is the time commitment?

There are monthly meetings on Mondays, usually around 12:00, which last a maximum of 1.5 hours. Depending on the current work of the committee, there may also be opportunities to undertake other work such as conducting surveys, feeding into research, and networking across the profession. There is no pressure to take part in these and they are totally flexible as to your availability.
