CIfA members and Registered Organisations shortlisted for Archaeological Achievement Awards


Congratulations to the plethora of CIfA members and Registered Organisations that have been shortlisted for the prestigious Council for British Archaeology Archaeological Achievement Awards 2023.

The Awards showcase the very best in UK and Irish archaeology through five categories, with winners of these individual awards being considered for the Outstanding Achievement Award.

The Early Career Archaeologist category features two CIfA members: Tabitha Gulliver Lawrence PCIfA, from Colchester Archaeological Trust; and Sakhsi Surana, a CIfA student member – both CIfA Early Careers Group committee members.

CIfA Registered Organisation, Wardell Armstrong LLP, has been shortlisted for its work on Uncovering Roman Carlisle in the Learning, Training and Skills category, and for the same project in the Public Dissemination or Presentation category.

Other CIfA Registered Organisations shortlisted were Wessex Archaeology, for The Online Publication of Hollis Croft: a Comic Tale in the Public Dissemination or Presentation category; and MOLA Headland Infrastructure for A14: The Evolution of a Landscape Through Time, in the same category.

The Roots in Time project, undertaken by Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service has been shortlisted in the Archaeology and Sustainability category. The final Registered Organisation to be shortlisted, York Archaeology, was nominated for its work on Archaeology on Prescription, in the Engagement and Participation category.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the De Grey Rooms, York on the evening of Friday 24 November 2023.
