New project - Toolkit for finds reporting: Roman coinage

CIfA is delighted to announce a new Historic England funded project to produce a Toolkit for Roman Coinage, providing guidance for the Historic Environment sector to ensure reliable and consistent reporting and analysis of Roman coins. The project is being managed by CIfA, alongside Dr Peter Guest (https://vianovaarchaeology.com/) who has been commissioned to compile the specialist content, and is supported by a project board and advisory group made up of representatives and specialists from across the Historic Environment sector.

It is a direct progression from the new CIfA/HE initiative Toolkit for Specialist Reporting, which provides a widely recognised aid to planning, writing, and monitoring finds reporting. The Toolkit for Finds Reporting: Roman Coinage will be hosted on the CIfA website and is aimed at a wide audience, including coin specialists, project managers, planning/monitoring archaeologists and archive archaeologists. It is envisaged that this Toolkit will be used to support the training of new coin specialists, as well as by students/apprentices, local societies and community groups, and all others engaged in producing Roman coin reports. The project is due to complete in Summer 2022.

Please keep an eye on your inboxes as a consultation of the Toolkit guidance will open in February 2022. Thank you in advance for any feedback provided. If you have any queries, please email jen.parkerwooding@archaeologists.net
