Are you interested in helping to drive the profession of archaeology forward? If you are committed to the highest professional standards and interested in promoting innovative and exemplary practice, we’d like to hear from you.
CIfA is the professional body for archaeologists working in the UK and overseas. We champion professionalism in archaeology, setting and monitoring professional standards and promoting best practice.
We are looking for a focussed and self-motivated individual to join our team as Senior Professional Standards & Practice Coordinator. You will either have a background in archaeology or historic environment practice or in professional standards development in another sector. Either way, you will be familiar with the concept of professional standards and, ideally, have an excellent understanding of the role of professional institutes in setting and maintaining them.
With strong research and communication skills, you will take day-to-day responsibility for CIfA initiatives to identify, document and promote professional standards and exemplary practice, maintaining a rolling review of our existing standards and working with stakeholders to identify gaps. You will also manage consultants working on specific standards initiatives and, with the Head of Professional Development & Practice, prepare project proposals and funding bids for new work.
