Details of a £92m Cultural Recovery Fund for Heritage were announced yesterday (29 July) by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and Historic England (HE), on behalf of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). The money is part of a £1.57b fund pledged by DCMS to help protect cultural organisations affected by COVID in England. In addition to the £92m for heritage organisations, which is to be administered by HE and the NLHF, accredited museums will be able to apply to a separate £500m fund administerd by Arts Council England.
Unfortunately the Fund is not available to organisations operating outside England.
The Fund is designed to support organisations which are no longer trading viably this financial year as a result of COVID-19 impacts. We understand that the vast majority of archaeological organisations in England, including sole traders will be eligible to apply.
Applications open tomorrow (30 July) and the deadline for applications is 17 August.
If you have any comments or questions about the Fund you can feed back to CIfA by emailing rob.lennox@archaeologists.net.
