Landward Research is undertaking Profiling the Profession 2020, a survey of archaeological employment in the UK, with the support of several funders, looking to gather information from the individual archaeologists and their employers across the entire UK, whether working in the private, public or third sectors, including museums and universities. CIfA has been actively involved in this and every iteration of this project, and it has given us valuable information about the overall size and changing nature of professional archaeology over time.
Many of you will have already responded, and your contributions are greatly appreciated. Over 800 archaeologists, archaeology students and former archaeologists had replied by the end of 2020. To get as accurate a picture as possible, the survey deadline has been extended until one minute to midnight on Sunday 17th January 2021.
The median length of time it has taken respondents to complete the individual’s survey is seven and a half minutes (446 seconds), and for the organisational survey is 581 seconds – just under ten minutes.
In preparation for answering the questionnaire, a copy of the full set of questions for organisations in PDF format can be downloaded HERE, while a copy of the full set of questions for individuals in PDF can be downloaded HERE.
Please select the survey you are responding to:
- individual archaeologists, whether employed, self-employed or unemployed
- former archaeologists
- archaeology students
- responding on behalf of an organisation including sole traders
