Summary
The Position:
CFA is looking to appoint a permanent Geomatics & Graphics Officer to join any one of our UK offices in either Milton Keynes, Sheffield, Leeds, or Musselburgh. Remote working could be available upon request.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the requisite skills to join our organisation and become an integral part of a committed UK-wide archaeological consultancy, contributing to the delivery of projects across the UK.
You will have a qualification in archaeology and/or geomatics with demonstrable experience of working with georeferenced data (for example, survey data, HER data and client data), digitising of archaeological site plans and sections, historic building elevations and plans, and other general archaeological illustration. Artefact illustration would be an advantage but not essential. The role entails processing of survey data and the production of archaeological plans and illustrations for all types of reports and publications.
Applicants will ideally have experience in the following: GIS mapping software (preferably ESRI ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) and/or AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign, Agisoft Metashape, or Trimble Business Centre. You should have knowledge of, or experience in, archaeological fieldwork and survey procedures.
You will be required to work as part of a friendly office locally but also as a member of our broader UK Geomatics & Graphics team, sharing projects according to scheduling needs. You will be able to maintain a high level of accuracy and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines originating from any of our UK branches. Training will be provided in key skills as necessary.
Successful criteria for the post will include:
- Excellent knowledge of GIS software and/or AutoCAD
- Knowledge of GPS survey data with processing experience
- Good working knowledge of field drawings and digitising techniques
- Relevant degree level education or practical experience in UK practice desirable
- Meticulous with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- A good positive attitude and effective team-worker / communicator
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good written English skills
