IfA writes in support of archaeology at the National Museum Wales

IfA has written to the National Museum Wales regarding savings that need to be made, outlining concerns for the potential consequences for Welsh archaeology of decisions that might be made.

In particular, IfA urged National Museum Wales to recognise

  • the high regard for expert museum staff by sector partners

  • the critical role such staff play in the archaeology of Wales

  • the importance of retaining within the organisation the capacity to contribute to delivery of the Minister for Culture and Sport’s Historic Environment Strategy for Wales, and so demonstrating the contemporary political relevance of a national research, exhibiting and educational institution
