DESCRIPTION:\n \n Practising ethical competence in archaeology
 \n \n This CPD workshop is for accredited professi
 onals and those that need to demonstrate ethical a
 bilities as part of their application for accredit
 ation.\n \n £30 for members\, £75 non-members\n
  \n All CIfA-accredited archaeologists have undert
 aken to act in accordance with our Code of conduct
 : professional ethics in archaeology. These rules 
 apply to ethical decision-making in both complex a
 nd everyday environments. Because we all make ethi
 cal judgements every day. Right and wrong are not 
 easily perceived\, and decisions can be ‘more’
  or ‘less’ ethically satisfactory.\n \n Ethica
 l behaviour is not innate: it is learned and pract
 iced in the real world – or in a safe environmen
 t like this workshop. Here we will help you develo
 p or hone your ethical competence\, just as you ga
 in technical competence elsewhere.\n \n Using case
  studies developed from real-life experiences in a
 rchaeological practice\, the scenarios in this int
 eractive workshop will allow participants to explo
 re what happens when different roles in commercial
  fieldwork have conflicting motivations\, and the 
 ethical dimensions of going beyond the contract wh
 en that happens.\n \n This valuable CPD opportunit
 y will help you\n \n \n 	recognise the ethical dim
 ensions of your daily work\n 	learn easily remembe
 red techniques for comparing options and reaching 
 ethical decisions\n 	practise making ethical judge
 ments in a safe place…\n 	… and be better prep
 ared for similar issues later encountered in real 
 life!\n 	identify how you can demonstrate evidence
  of ethical working to support your statement of c
 ompetence\, and prepare for discussion of your eth
 ical abilities at your professional review intervi
