If you need archaeological work to be carried out, we recommend using a CIfA Registered Organisation and ideally a CIfA accredited archaeologist. By using a Registered Organisation or an accredited individual, you can be confident that our members are committed to the professional standards required by CIfA and will meet your needs and the needs of the public.
Please read the information below before using the 'search the register' functions for Registered Organisations and accredited professionals.
The Registered Organisation scheme is a unique quality assurance programme. It signifies a commitment to maintaining professional standards and competence. Registered Organisations have demonstrated their ability to provide informed and reliable advice, carry out work effectively, minimise uncertainty, delays, and costs, and act ethically while adhering to professional standards.
CIfA-accreditation of individuals have been assessed for their knowledge, skills and behaviours and agree to uphold the values of the Institute set out in our Code of conduct. There are three grades of professional accreditation - Practitioner (PCIfA), Associate (ACIfA) and Member (MCIfA). For more information please see the summary of professionally accredited grades.
