Pre-Construct Archaeology is one of UK’s largest archaeological companies, with seven regional offices across the country. We have been delivering professional heritage services for more than 30 years, working on some of the largest and most complex sites in Britain.
We are looking to recruit an Archives and Finds Officer, based in our London offices.
The role is suitable for someone with some experience in Finds and Archiving.

The Role:
We are looking for a candidate to undertake the following responsibilities:
- Assist with the administration, processing, and preparation of finds and environmental material.
- Assist with preparation of finds archives for PCA’s London offices.
- Assist with logging finds and environmental archives as they arrive in London, and tracking their status and location as they are processed and deposited.
- Liaise with external specialists as required.
- Liaise with other finds stores, archive repositories and museums to make sure the archives (both physical and digital) are deposited in the appropriate manner.
- Ensure the correct processing, packing and labelling of artefacts protection of artefacts.
- Ensure that all artefacts, ecofacts and archives are stored appropriately and securely.
- Undertake operations in accordance with CIfA Code of Conduct and adhere to their standards and guidance.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Archaeology or related subject (e.g. History, Classics, Geology etc.)
- Knowledge and experience in the preparation and deposition of physical and digital archives
- Experience working on archaeological sites
- Excellent oral and written English
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic maths skills
- Knowledge/experience in using and creating spreadsheets
- Knowledge/experience of administration procedures
- Experience in accurate record-keeping
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
- Attention to detail
- Commitment to PCA’s health and safety policies at all times
- Eligible to live and work in the UK
