We are committed to our social impact. This means using the knowledge and connections we make through our commercial activities as a catalyst to engage the communities in which we work.
Join us and you’ll be part of a collaborative team committed to shaping a better future for our staff, the sector and the world. As well as having knowledgeable and dedicated colleagues, you’ll have an opportunity to access a variety of fascinating and high-profile projects and develop your skills and knowledge along the way.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic manager with at least 5 year's demonstrable experience in a senior project management role. This role would suit an individual with experience of working as a senior leader or manager of commercial archaeological fieldwork projects. As part of a dynamic management team, you’ll be managing and motivating fieldwork teams working on a range of, significant infrastructure projects in the south of England. With a keen interest in British Archaeology, you’ll be responsible for inspiring your teams to achieve the highest possible standards.
You’ll have an excellent understanding of health, safety and wellbeing policies and a firm commitment to ensuring safe working practices. As well as managing operations on-site, you’ll play a critical part in successful communication with the existing project management team, colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
Although the role will primarily be focused on the direct management of fieldwork operations, experience in preparing commercial proposals and tenders for both small and large-scale multidisciplinary projects and the necessary skills and/or aptitude to track and manage project finances will also be an advantage.
You must have an enthusiasm for influencing the development of our industry and be able to focus on the needs and concerns of our clients to ensure consistent customer satisfaction by providing high quality, commercial and most importantly professional advice. As part of your role you will be a key influencer in promoting the positive culture of the business and work collegiately with all staff.
If you are motivated by using your initiative to solve problems, then this could be the next career move for you.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Day to day management of fieldwork teams, both on a single site basis and projects involving multiple site teams.
- Financial control and responsibilities of project budgets supported by our Quantity Surveyors where appropriate.
- Key communications link between site teams and the senior project management team
- Making sure that health, safety and wellbeing methodologies and policies are understood, communicated, and followed on site.
- Advising site teams to develop site strategies and monitor their success.
- Liaising and co-ordinating works with sub-contractors and Principal Contractors.
Ensuring work is completed to deadline and of a high standard.
Essential and desirable certification
- Full clean drivers' licence and willingness to drive company vehicles.
