Consultancy details
I am Director of Heritage, providing all manner of reports and technical advice on heritage and archaeology (significance statements, HIA, HEDBA, EIA, CMP, feasibility studies, retrofitting reports, etc.) and regularly act as an expert witness at hearings/inquiries on all manner of heritage issues.

I hold MCIfA and IHBC professional memberships and was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 2021. I am a former trustee of the Churches Conservation Trust and sit on the Church Buildings Council Stained Glass committee.

I am a regular broadcaster and author. My most recent book, Heaven on Earth: The Lives & Legacies of the World’s Great Cathedrals, was published by Head of Zeus in 2022. Pilgrim Routes of the British Isles was released in 2016--my next is in progress. I am also a regular writer for Church Times, Tudor Places, BBC History, History Today, Minerva, History Revealed, BBC Countryfile, and Welcome to Yorkshire, and act as a specialist tour guide, unravelling the history of architectural sites to parties across the UK.
