MSDS Marine & MSDS Heritage are a Marine and Coastal Contractor specialising in the management, execution and support of archaeological projects in the marine environment. We have grown steadily since they were first established in 2011 and are now a market leader in maritime archaeology in the UK.
MSDS currently have a large volume of work and are involved in many high-profile projects, including offshore renewables, multi-national infrastructure and work on behalf of national heritage agencies. As a result, we are looking to expand our team by recruiting an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated maritime archaeologist based at our head office in Holbrook, Derbyshire.
You will be an experienced heritage professional, educated to at least degree level, with a good working knowledge of maritime archaeology. You should be able to demonstrate a range of skills relating to maritime archaeology and a willingness to learn. You will work closely with other team members and be able to maintain good professional relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Due to the nature of the role, it is anticipated there will be a large element of working away from home in the field.
The role will require you to undertake a range of activities relating to maritime archaeology, from research and GIS analysis, to undertaking diving field assessments and surveys, to report writing and archiving. The ideal candidate will have a clear and robust understanding of marine heritage in UK waters and the legislation, policy and curatorial advice which govern this, as well as a experience in diving at work. MSDS prides itself on good client and stakeholder relationships and as such the role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We are currently operating a 4-day working week, however this does not apply during fieldwork where a normal (5-day) working week applies.
