Join MOLA's Archives team and lead the preparation of archaeological archives for long-term preservation and public access.
Based in Northampton, you will work alongside members of our regional archives team to oversee the preparation of physical and digital archaeological archives for deposition with the appropriate repositories. The role includes managing archive processing to national and repository-specific standards, compiling archive documentation and metadata, maintaining accurate records, and liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders to support the smooth delivery of archive processes throughout the lifetime of projects. You will also have the opportunity to supervise junior staff and work experience students undertaking archive tasks.
We are looking for someone with a degree in archaeology or a related subject (or equivalent experience), excellent organisational, communication and attention to detail skills, and experience of archaeological archiving (physical and digital). A thorough knowledge of current archaeological archiving standards is essential. Experience of commercial fieldwork, post-excavation work, and supervising staff or volunteers would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence would be advantageous, as attendance at other MOLA offices is required as part of this role.
