Join our innovative & friendly commercial team

Worcestershire Archaeology (www.explorethepast.co.uk ) is looking for a Trainee to join our busy field team, operating on a wide range of projects across the West Midlands and beyond.

With a proven track record of delivering high quality fieldwork for over 40 years, our training programme is fully accredited by CIfA and includes completing an NVQ (Level 3) in Archaeological Practice. Providing a broader training platform than many other schemes, when completed it entitles you to PCIfA status, opening the way to a career in archaeology.

The post provides a great opportunity to develop your career in an innovative and friendly environment in which many of our current team have benefitted from our traineeship or from internal promotion. We are based at The Hive, in the centre of Worcester (www.thehiveworcester.org), an award-winning building providing a unique combination of a public and university library, and archive and archaeological services under one roof.

We provide:

  • 37 hours/week plus fully paid overtime, including travel time.
  • A brilliant Pension Scheme - the Local Government Pension Scheme. (LGPS) is a nationwide, career average pension scheme and provides a valuable part of our pay and reward package.
  • Great Holiday Entitlement - 34 days holiday per year (including statutory holidays), rising to 39 after 5 years.
  • High quality accommodation and subsistence for away work.
  • Paid CIfA membership and supported attendance at conferences.
  • A review and development scheme underpinning our proven track record of training, retaining and promoting staff.
  • A range of measures to promote a good work/life balance. Worcester's a great place to live and, although some away work is liable to be required, the majority of our projects are locally based, so you'll get plenty of time to enjoy making your home here.
